To open the CPA of a target that will otherwise pass close ahead, a give-way vessel usually achieves the clearest result by:
- AA small change of course
- BA bold, readily apparent change of course and/or speed made in ample time✓ Correct

Explanation
Rule 8 requires action that is positive, made in ample time, and large enough to be readily apparent to another vessel visually or by radar. A succession of small alterations is specifically discouraged.
