You lay a danger bearing line from a charted lighthouse that clears an offshore shoal lying to seaward of your track, with the hazard kept to port. To stay in safe water you must keep the lighthouse's bearing:
- AGreater than 090° relative in every case
- BExactly equal to the danger bearing at all times
- COn the safe side of the drawn danger bearing, hatched on the hazard side, monitored as you pass✓ Correct
- DChanging at a constant rate
Explanation
A danger bearing is a single line of position drawn through a charted object that just clears the hazard. The navigator keeps the object's observed bearing on the safe side of that line (the line is hatched on the dangerous side) to remain in clear water.
