33 CFR 164 requires a towing vessel to carry charts and publications that are:
- AAny edition, regardless of corrections
- BCurrently corrected and of adequate scale for the area being transited✓ Correct
- COnly electronic, never paper
- DBorrowed from another vessel as needed
Explanation
The vessel must have charts of large enough scale and the latest editions, corrected to date from Notices to Mariners, plus required publications (Coast Pilot, Light List, tide and current tables). Up-to-date, adequate-scale charts are central to safe pilotage.
