Hot work in or near cargo spaces requires a permit issued only after the space and adjacent tanks/lines are gas-freed and tested (and re-tested as needed), combustibles removed, the area isolated, firefighting and a fire watch in place. An untested or vapor-laden space must never have an ignition source introduced.
