Under Rule 19(e), a vessel which hears apparently forward of her beam the fog signal of another vessel shall, unless risk does not exist:
- AIncrease speed to pass quickly
- BAlter boldly to port
- CReduce to the minimum speed at which she can be kept on course, and navigate with extreme caution✓ Correct
- DSound the danger signal and hold speed
Explanation
On hearing a fog signal apparently forward of the beam, or unable to avoid a close-quarters situation with a vessel forward of the beam, a vessel shall reduce to bare steerageway and, if necessary, take all way off — and in any event navigate with extreme caution.
