Rules of the Road · Anchored & Aground
A vessel at anchor in a 'special anchorage area' of less than 100 meters in length is NOT required to show:
- AThe forward all-round white anchor light
- BThe after all-round white anchor light
- CThe anchor day shape (black ball)
- DAny anchor light at all✓ Correct
Explanation
Rule 30(e) exempts vessels less than 100 meters in length when anchored in a specially designated anchorage area from showing the anchor lights or shapes. This recognizes that these areas are specifically charted and mariners are expected to know vessels may be anchored there.
