Rule 31 requires a seaplane or WIG craft on the water to show lights and shapes as close as practicable to those prescribed for a power-driven vessel of the same status (underway, at anchor, etc.). The rule acknowledges that seaplanes may not be able to comply exactly due to their configuration.
