During daylight hours, a vessel towing another vessel where the length of tow exceeds 200 meters shall display:

Rule 24(a)(iv) requires a diamond shape where it can best be seen on the towing vessel, and Rule 24(e)(ii) requires a diamond shape on the towed vessel, when the length of tow exceeds 200 meters. This alerts other vessels to the extended hazard.
