What is an Estimated Position (EP)?
- AA DR position corrected for estimated current and leeway✓ Correct
- BA position obtained by two intersecting LOPs
- CA GPS-confirmed position plotted on the chart
- DA position based on radar range and bearing only
Explanation
An Estimated Position (EP) is the navigator's best approximation of the vessel's true position, obtained by applying estimated set and drift (and sometimes leeway) to the DR position. It is better than a DR but less reliable than a Fix.
