Meteorology · Local Winds
A land breeze:
- ABlows from sea to land in the afternoon
- BBlows from the land toward the sea at night✓ Correct
- CIs the same as the trade winds
- DOnly occurs in the tropics
Explanation
At night the land cools faster than the sea; the relatively warmer air over the water rises and cooler air drains off the land — an offshore land breeze. It is the nighttime reverse of the daytime sea breeze and is usually weaker.
