Engineering · Electrical — Reverse Power
A reverse-power relay protects a paralleled generator by tripping it when:
- AIt is overloaded
- BIts prime mover loses power and the machine begins to motor (draw power from the bus)✓ Correct
- CVoltage rises too high
- DFrequency increases
Explanation
If a generator's prime mover fails while paralleled, the machine runs as a motor driving the dead engine, drawing reverse power from the bus. The reverse-power relay senses this and trips the breaker to protect the set.
