Engineering · Electrical — Power Factor
Power factor in an AC system is the ratio of:
- AVoltage to current
- BReal power (kW) to apparent power (kVA)✓ Correct
- CFrequency to voltage
- DReactive power to resistance
Explanation
Power factor = real power (kW) / apparent power (kVA) = cosine of the phase angle. A low (lagging) power factor from inductive loads means more current for the same useful power.
