Engineering · Steam — Condensate
Loss of vacuum in the main condenser is commonly caused by:
- AExcess condensate depression
- BAir in-leakage or failure of the air ejector/exhauster✓ Correct
- CToo much circulating seawater
- DLow boiler water level
Explanation
Air leaking into the condenser, or a failed air-removal (ejector) system, lets pressure rise and vacuum fall. Reduced circulating water or fouled tubes can also raise condenser pressure.
