A diesel engine that turns on air but fails to fire could be caused by all of the following EXCEPT:

No-fuel conditions — empty tank, closed valve, air-locked lines, or a rack stuck at zero — prevent firing. High cetane fuel actually improves ignition, so it would not cause a no-start.
