Deck General · Shiphandling — Kick
When the rudder is first put over hard to begin a turn, the stern initially:
- AStays exactly on the original track
- BDrops several feet
- CRises out of the water
- DKicks out to the side opposite the turn✓ Correct
Explanation
The 'kick' is the stern's initial swing to the outside of the turn (opposite the direction the bow goes). This is exploited in the Williamson turn and when clearing the stern off a pier or away from a person in the water.
