The crown is the bottom of the anchor — the curved junction where the shank meets the arms. The ring or shackle at the top of the shank is where the rode attaches (the shank head). The stock is the crosspiece on an admiralty-pattern anchor. Understanding anchor anatomy is important for rigging a trip line to the crown for recovery if the anchor is fouled.
