Deck General · Trim (TPI, MT1)
MT1 (moment to trim one inch) is used to find:
- AThe weight needed to change displacement by one ton
- BThe change in trim produced by a weight shifted fore or aft, given the trimming moment✓ Correct
- CThe free surface correction for a tank one inch deep
- DThe righting moment at one degree of heel
Explanation
MT1 is the trimming moment (foot-tons or ton-feet) required to change the trim one inch. Change in trim (inches) = trimming moment / MT1. The moment is the added or shifted weight multiplied by its distance from the center of flotation (LCF).
