Chart Navigation & Plotting · Plotting Conventions — Symbols
On a chart plot, a position determined from two or more simultaneous lines of position is marked with:
- AA triangle and the time
- BA semicircle and the time
- CA square and the time
- DA small circle (or dot ringed by a circle) and the four-digit time✓ Correct
Explanation
A fix is shown by a dot encircled (or a small circle) with the time. A dead-reckoning position uses a semicircle, and an estimated position uses a square. Standardized symbols make the type and reliability of each position immediately clear.
