Celestial Navigation · The Nautical Almanac — GHA Increments
To find the GHA of the sun at 14h 23m 30s GMT, you take the tabulated GHA for 14h and:
- AAdd the increment for 23m 30s from the yellow 'Increments and Corrections' pages✓ Correct
- BSubtract the v correction only
- CMultiply the hourly GHA by the minutes
- DAdd the assumed longitude
Explanation
GHA for the whole hour is taken from the daily page; the increment for the additional minutes and seconds (here 23m 30s) is read from the yellow Increments and Corrections pages and added. For the sun there is no separate v correction (the sun's hourly rate is treated as constant in the increment tables).
